At last, power steering for MGB's, the ultimate and most worthwhile MG accessory yet to have been developed for the marque and now available exclusively from MGOC Spares & Accessories. The MGB power steering conversion comprises either a mechanicial (recommended) or a modern electro hydraulic power steering pump/motor together with a new hydraulically assisted steering rack. This greatly reduces the effort required to steer when maneuvering at low speeds or when parking, and also provides virtually effortless control throughout long journeys, still retaining positive road feel. When parking steering effort is reduced by a perceived 55%, that equates to an effort of only 4Nm, measured at the steering wheel nut. Being electrically powered, the system operates even if the engine is not running and by operating independently of the engine, any reduction in brake horse power is minimal. This is a properly engineered power steering conversion, produced by an accredited British specialist manufacturer. In order to install the MGB power steering rack, the cross member requires modification to the rack mountings. Alternatively the complete power steering conversion is supplied with a ready modified crossmember complete with mounting bracket for power steering rack welded in position. The modified crossmember is powder coated, ready to install. this option best suits those undertaking the installation themselves. A £79.90 inc VAT surcharge is included in the below price. This is refunded once a reconditionable old unit is returned to us.
